Landscape Architecture is the art, planning, design, management, preservation and rehabilitation of the land and the design of large-scale man-made constructs. The scope of the profession includes architectural design, site planning, estate development, environmental restoration, town or urban planning, park and recreation planning, regional planning, and historic preservation.
A Landscape Designer has training in horticulture and landscape planning. Unlike landscape architecture, landscape design is not a licensed profession that is regulated by the State of Florida.
Landscape architects design outdoor areas that are useful, but beautiful. They design landscapes that are in harmony with nature. They work with architects, surveyors, and engineers, to find the best place to put roads and buildings. They work with environmental scientists to find the best way to conserve or restore natural resources. Real estate developers, local governments, and many other kinds of organizations employ landscape architects. Licensed Landscape Architects are issued an identifying license number at time of licensure. A number preceded by "LA" is a license number for an individual landscape architect. A number preceded by "LC" is a number for a licensed business entity that is licensed to practice landscape architecture. |
